Today I visited the "Tooth Trolley program" at Vancouver Community College which is a great service and program for the community.  Disadvantaged children and children in need of dental assessments and treatment are brought to Vancouver Community College on the "Tooth Trolley" bus where the dental assisting students and dental hygiene students as well as some staff and volunteers help assess and educate the children about dental care.  Besides a basic exam, the children will receive some additional treatment at the clinic including a dental polish, fluoride application and dental care instructions.  In some circumstances, an available dentist may provide some dental work.  If the parents attend with their children, then the parents are also given oral health instructions and advice.   The children and their parents receive a care package to take home including a toothbrush and a prize, and now a copy of Cuddles the Cat Goes to the Dentist.  Some of the students signed a wonderful poster for me which I will put on display.  As you can tell from the poster, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Tooth Trolley program at V.C.C.
